Case Management
The Case Management screen is a feature designed to aid clinicians in keeping track of current cases and pending or incomplete work. This screen is also available to fourth-year students while on clinical rotations, though the features differ slightly between the clinician version and the student version. The Case Management screen, which automatically opens when a clinician logs in to VMIS, is available under the Patient Info menu.
Case Management for Clinicians
For clinicians, the Case Management screen contains multiple tabs that show lists for pending diagnoses, requests that have not been submitted, new lab test results, reports that are not finalized, and all currently admitted cases (census). There are tools available for submitting, finalizing, and acknowledging records based on which of the tabs is being viewed, as well as directly opening the Patient Info screen for the selected case.
Case Management for Students
For students, the Case Management screen contains multiple tabs that show lists for all cases admitted to their current service or rotation on which they are currently listed as the assigned student, requests that have not been submitted, documents that have not been finalized, new lab test results, and all previous cases on which they were listed as the assigned student. There are tools available for dismissing, or hiding, records from the lists and directly opening the Patient Info screen for the selected case. Students can use the “Rotation/Service” drop-down list to specify on which rotation they are working.
