Electronic Requests Overview

An Electronic Request is a special type of medical record used to request specific work to be done for a patient by a suppoort service, such as Radiology or Anesthesia, or a diagnostic lab. All requests follow the same basic process where they start as a Pending Request when created, then are Submitted to the service or lab. Once submitted, the service or lab will perform the work requested, creating a Pending Report. Once the work and the report have been completed, the report is Finalized and released back to the requestor and added to the Patient Record.

Creating and Submitting Requests

Electronic Requests are created through the same process as other medical records, except a request type is selected on the Create New Medical Record screen instead of a record type.

Once a request has been filled out and saved, it can be submitted by clicking the Submit button the request.

Finalizing Reports

The process to finalize the report portion of an electronic request is the same as that of finalizing other medical records, except that finalization rights for reports are normally restricted to certain users within the specific support service or lab to which the request was submitted.
