Requesting Access and Rights
User Accounts
Each person who has been approved to access VMIS will be given their own password-protected User Account with a unique logon ID (username). Each person is responsible for their own user account and passwords should be treated as confidental information (not to be shared). User Accounts will remain in place until the person is no longer employed by the CVM or until they no longer have a need to access VMIS. If an account is not used for a period of 6 months, it will be automatically disabled.
Staff/Employees: All new Hospital employees are issued VMIS accounts. The VMTH Human Resources office approves access and creates accounts for new employees during the on-boarding process. If a staff member from another department needs access to VMIS, their supervisor will submit a request to the VMTH Human Resources office and a user account will be created if the request is approved.
Faculty: VMIS access for clinicians, interns, and residents is approved by their respective Department Head. The Department Head's Administrative Assistant will send requests to the VMTH Human Resources office for account creation.
Students: VMIS access for students is approved by the CVM's Admissions Coordinator. The Admissions Coordinator will send requests to the VMTH Human Resources office for account creation.
User Rights
Access to different sections of VMIS as well as capabilities within VMIS are controlled through rights. Employee supervisors work with the VMTH Human Resources office to determine the appropriate level of access, or the appropriate rights, for each role or job. As an employee changes jobs or their job responsibilities change, their supervisor will work with the Human Resources office to determine what changes with rights or access should be made, if any.
