-Several features within VMIS are dependent upon in which part of the Hospital a user works: Large Animal or Small Animal. Each user can specify whether they need the Large Animal Hospital features or the Small Animal Hospital features by selecting the appropriate hospital under the File Menu. When logging on to VMIS, VMIS will automatically select whichever hospital is set as default for the logged on user. The default hospital for a user account is initially set by the Human Resources office as part of creating the account, but it can be changed at any time by selecting //Set Current Hospital as Default// from the File Menu.

-All VMIS users are encouraged to log off from VMIS when they are not using it. This serves to both help prevent unauthorized access to VMIS as well as make VMIS available to other users when used on shared computers throughout the Hospital. There is a Log Off button at the bottom of the File Menu and at the far right side of the main menu bar. The //F11// key can also be used as a keyboard shortcut for logging off. Closing VMIS will also automatically log off the currently logged on user.
