 =====Accessing VMIS===== =====Accessing VMIS=====
 +
 +===VMIS at Work===
 +------------------
 +
 +VMIS is installed on all VMTH-owned computers in both the Small and Large Animal Hospitals as part of their default setup configuration. In the event that VMIS is needed on a CVM- or VMTH-owned computer where it is not currently installed, it can be installed through submitting a request to the CVM Helpdesk or through the ZENworks utility that is on all CVM-managed computers. As part of the VMIS installation, a shortcut to launch VMIS is placed on the computer Desktop screen and in the Start Menu.
 +
 +==VMIS Updates==
 +The VMIS IT/Development team will periodically release updates to VMIS containing bug fixes, feature enhancements, and new features. Every time VMIS is launched, it will automatically check for updates before showing the logon screen. If one is available, VMIS will automatically download and apply the update. If VMIS is already running on a computer when an update is released, the update will not be applied until VMIS is //fully closed// and launched again.
 +
 +NOTE: If a user only //logs out// of VMIS, then logs in again, any available updates will not be applied. Updating VMIS does //not// require rebooting the computer itself nor logging out of Windows.
 +
 +==Wi-Fi in the Hospital==
 +VMIS can also be accessed over a wireless network conditions when it is installed on a laptop or tablet. The two wireless networks available in the Hospital are "cvm-wireless-wpa" and "tamulink-wpa." Connecting to the "cvm-wireless-wpa" network requires a CVM username and password. Connecting to the "tamulink-wpa" network requires a Texas A&M NetID username and password.
 +
 +===VMIS at Home===
 +------------------
 +
 +Texas A&M provides a virtual private network, or VPN, that can be used to access A&M resources while off campus or at home. If VMIS is installed on a CVM- or VMTH-owned laptop, this VPN can be used to access VMIS while at home. If a laptop was set up by the CVM Helpdesk, the software necessary for using the VPN should already be installed.
 +
 +The Hospital also provides another service that can be used to access VMIS from personal devices and from home. This service uses a program called the Citrix Receiver to access and run VMIS and can be used from anywhere so long as an Internet connection is available. The Citrix Receiver is available for Windows computers, Mac computers, iPads, iPhones, and Android devices.
 +
 +===Inactivity Timeouts===
 +-------------------------
 +
 +In an effort to help prevent unauthorized access, VMIS has an "Application Timeout" control that will watch for keyboard and mouse activity. After a certain period of inactivity, VMIS will automatically lock the currently logged in session. When this happens, a dialog is displayed providing users with the ability to re-enter their password to continue their session or to log off the current session so a different user can log on.
 +
 +The inactivity period is as follows:
 +- 30 minutes for users accessing VMIS through the Citrix Receiver
 +- 15 minutes for users who do //not// have rights to finalize medical records
 +- 8 minutes for users have rights to finalize medical records
