+<color #ed1c24>Note: There are several ways to search for a client or patient. Once you are familiar with each you will then be able to tell which will give you the most information to use for any instance.</color>
+**OPTION 1**
+Press **F4**. This will give you quick access to the **Patient Summary** screen.
+From this screen, click the <color #00a2e8>blue magnifying glass</color> in the upper left of the screen. This will allow you to enter your search information.

+After clicking on the correct client/patient, the Patient Summary screen will populate with all their information.

+Click the **patient information** button from the quick launch menu on the main VMIS Screen.

+Once the Patient Summary screen appears, click the <color #00a2e8>blue magnifying glass</color> icon next to the search bar in the top left hand corner of the screen.

+The patient selection screen will appear.
+NOTE: Even if the referring veterinarian’s office believes the patient has never been seen by us before, still search the patient and or client using the search fields in this box.

+Click the **Client Services** tab at the top of the Main Menu.

+Click **Admissions**.

+Click **NEW**. Begin the search process.

+From most screens, you will see a button in the shape of a paw with the word Patient below. This is a quick launch button for the Patient Summary screen. By clicking this button you will have quick access to the patient search function.
